Request and review your credit reports

If you've been the victim of identity theft, we recommend that you request and review your credit reports on the Annual Credit Reports website to verify that no other fraudulent inquiries or accounts exist. You can contact any of the three credit bureaus by phone, mail, or their companies' websites.

You might also consider a credit freeze. Putting a freeze on your credit prevents others from opening accounts using your information. Again, you can contact any of the three credit bureaus to start this process.
