Overview

You can now use the Allstate Digital Footprint tool to see your digital relationships and manage your privacy. With the click of a button, tell brands that you want to unsubscribe from marketing emails, delete your data, or change your privacy settings — right from our app.

You probably already know that the Allstate Digital Footprint tool can help you see your digital connections, even the ones you may have forgotten about.

We’re excited to announce that you can now use it as a privacy management tool, too.

Here’s the latest on how you can use the tool to take control of your data and information.

New features in the Allstate Digital Footprint tool

In addition to seeing a list of companies that may be storing your data, you can now send privacy requests directly to brands right from your account dashboard.

With the click of a button, tell brands that you’d like to:

Unsubscribe from marketing emails

If your inbox is flooded with unwanted emails, we can send unsubscribe requests to brands on your behalf.

Unsubscribing from emails doesn’t completely remove your information from that brand's database (more on that later), but it will remove your email address from its mailing list so you shouldn't receive any further communications.

U.S. law requires commercial companies to allow recipients to opt out of receiving emails, so once an unsubscribe request is sent, it is their responsibility to comply.

With the Allstate Digital Footprint tool, it’s easy to send these requests. But keep in mind that you may receive additional communication from brands about how to unsubscribe. If that occurs, you may need to work with the brand directly to complete the request.

Ask companies to delete your data

We can also help you ask companies to delete your data.

From your account dashboard, it only takes a few taps to tell a particular brand you’d like to erase your personal information from its systems and servers.

Asking companies to wipe your records is a simple way to minimize the amount of your personal information that lives online. Plus, you'll have more peace of mind if that company suffers a data breach later on.

Change your preferred level of privacy

Finally, if you are fine with a company storing your data, but you don't like the way they are using it, we can help you adjust your privacy settings.

You may choose to request one of the following privacy levels for each company in your footprint:

  • Default: You’re comfortable with the company collecting, using, and sharing your personal information as stated in its privacy policy

  • Moderate: You’d like your personal information to be used only to provide a product or service

  • Strict: You’d like the absolute minimum amount of personal information to be collected

With stricter privacy settings, less information is shared with the company, which can help you reduce your digital footprint.

Quick Guide

How to track the digital footprint you leave behind

All the bits and pieces of personal data that you share online form your digital footprint: a map of where you’ve been and what you’ve done online.

The Allstate Digital Footprint® tool helps you see your online relationship and reduce the amount of personal data that lives online. Two types of activity you might see on your account dashboard, once you’ve connected an email address, are:

  • We discovered more connections: We found some new digital relationships that you may want to check out.

  • We found your email address in a data breach: Your personal information may have been exposed. Carefully review all the details and consider the safety tips we recommend for you.
