Overview

In this article, we’ll go over the enhancements we’ve made to our offering and how they are helping members address more than identity theft, including cyberattacks, scams, cyberbullying, data privacy concerns, and more.

Whether you’ve heard about identity theft on the news or experienced it yourself, identity protection is more important than ever. With over $27 billion in losses and 18 million victims in 2025 alone, having the right protection can mean the difference between a small inconvenience and a life-changing incident.

But identity theft isn’t the only modern threat out there. Scammers are finding new ways to try to steal your money and your information, hackers are developing new attacks to compromise your devices, data brokers may be selling your data to shady organizations, and criminals are constantly trying to exploit the most vulnerable members of our society, including children and older adults.

For nearly 20 years, Allstate Identity Protection has been providing members with the protection they need to stay safe from identity theft and fraud. And as the first identity protection company created specifically to serve employees as a benefit, we know what it takes to build a solution that serves both employees and their organizations.

Offering protection and services that can address the constantly evolving nature of modern threats is central to our mission. And that’s why we're stepping up our protection and expanding our reach beyond identity theft to help our members protect the most important parts of their lives.

Scam protection

For better or worse, scammers are endlessly creative when it comes to creating new ways to part victims from their money and their personal information. Whether it’s a fake QR code that directs people to a malicious site, a long-con scheme like a pig butchering scam, or by posing as a bank or other authority and sending a victim an enticing link that leads to a site designed to capture their information, there are countless ways for scammers to trick their victims.

And the fallout from these scams often go much deeper than just stolen funds—information stolen during a scam can also be used to commit identity theft, and once a person’s identity has been stolen, 71 percent of victims experience additional incidents.

With all of these scam techniques and the arrival of AI-powered scams, there were 18 million victims of scams in 2025 that lost a total of $11 billion. For years, we’ve continued to add scam protection capabilities to our offering, including Allstate Security Pro scam alerts in 2022, phishing protection and other cybersecurity tools in 2023, and personal coaching for scam prevention in 2024.

In 2025, we officially introduced Allstate Scam Protection℠, a collection of features, services, and resources to help members avoid and recover from scams. This includes:

  • Email scan that detects malicious emails in a member’s inbox

  • Mobile scam alerts that notify members of detected scams across texts, notifications, apps, and calendar invites

  • Scam Safety Center that provides members with the up-to-date information they need to avoid the latest scams

  • Up to $50,000 in reimbursement coverage for scams, digital crimes, and social engineering, as well as data recovery and system restoration coverage, ransomware payment coverage, and cryptocurrency funds reimbursement*

Cyber protection

Our devices make modern life possible and as a result, they often contain information about nearly every aspect of our lives. Where we go, who we talk to, what we want to buy, what sites we visit, passwords to our accounts—that’s just scratching the surface of what kind of information is on your devices.

Attacks like malware, phishing, and other viruses can extract sensitive information from devices, which can then be used to make scam attempts more convincing, or even used to help criminals steal an identity. This includes information like email addresses, passwords, confidential documents stored in an inbox, addresses, or even information about friends and family.

We know how important it is to protect this information and the devices it is stored on, which is why we added comprehensive device protection features to our plans in 2022. Since then, we’ve continued to evolve our device protection and update it with more features, including:

  • Personal device security powered by Bitdefender**, which includes missing and stolen device tools, malware and virus protection, phishing protection, and more

  • A password manager

  • Family mobile and desktop device protection for up to 10 devices per adult

Secure document organization and management

Managing important documents can be tough, especially as a member’s family grows, and they’re juggling parenting, their career, and organizing their family. With so many documents to look after, a family’s documents are spread across several folders in different boxes, with no way of knowing which documents are where.

Having easy access to documents for everyday situations such as:

  • Providing a new doctor with insurance information

  • Verifying your identity when applying for a credit card

  • Renewing a vehicle’s registration

  • Sharing medical records during a medical emergency

Securely storing and easily accessing documents is important for organization purposes, but it’s also critical for helping reduce the likelihood of identity theft and scams. Storing documents in a location like an email inbox or other digital location can potentially lead to a data breach that exposes these documents, which can then lead to identity theft and scams as criminals use them to open credit accounts or create convincing scams.

Storing and accessing documents can be a challenge, but the real headache happens when disaster strikes. It’s a reality no one wants to consider, but if you lose your home to a fire, flood, or other natural disaster, you also lose all those documents. Without access to things like birth certificates, home titles, and more, it can make your recovery process even more stressful and difficult at a time when you need things to be as straightforward and simple as possible.

With our new digital household assistant, we’re making it easier  to store, organize, and share your documents with features like:

  • The ability to upload and organize important documents into a secure digital location

  • Bank-level encryption, tokenization, and required multi-factor authentication, as well as physical location tracking for important documents and assets

  • Simplified access and ability to share with other parties

Privacy and data monitoring

The internet has made everyday tasks easier than ever. Shopping, researching a new hobby, or signing up for a new service can all be done in just minutes.

But this convenience has come at a price. Accessing these services often requires entering personal information such as names, addresses, credit card numbers, and more. Online vendors keep this sensitive information on file, and if they experience a data breach, this information could end up in the hands of criminals.

But that’s not all—the vendor can even choose to sell the information to a data broker, who can in turn sell the information to whoever they want, including disreputable businesses, scammers, identity thieves, and foreign governments.

To help our members protect this information, we’ve added several data and privacy monitoring tools to our plans, including:

  • Data removal, which automatically locates personal information on the web and requests its removal

  • Allstate Digital Footprint®, which notifies members if they’ve been involved in a data breach, provides privacy management tools, and more

  • Dark web monitoring to alert members when their information is detected on the dark web

  • Robocall and ad blocker tools, as well as solicitation reduction to keep unwanted communications at bay

Family protection

Avoiding identity theft and scams is hard enough, but protecting family members, especially the most vulnerable members, is even harder. Family members are facing threats that previous generations never had to deal with and may not have the knowledge or resources they need to protect themselves. And in the case of children and older family members, may even be the specific target of criminals.

Although older adults are less likely to fall victim to a scam, they often experience larger losses when they are scammed, which can create financial emergencies for those who experience scams.

And while children certainly experience scams and identity theft, there are other threats out there as well. Inappropriate online content, cyberbullying, sextortion—these threats are a daily reality for children that are online. And the worst part is that their digital lives extend across text, email, apps, social media, and more, which can make monitoring their activity extremely difficult for parents.

Our family plans provide comprehensive coverage and features designed to help families address modern threats, including:

  • Protection for everyone “under roof” and “under wallet”, including everyone who lives with you or is financially dependent on you

  • Senior family coverage for all family members 65+, no matter where they live

  • Family digital safety tools powered by Bark**, including web filtering, screen time management, location tracking, parental monitoring and alerting

Identity theft remains an important risk, but it's no longer the only threat people may face online. Between scams, cyberattacks, data breaches, and online threats that target our most vulnerable family members, having the right protection is more important than ever.
