InfoArmor Acquires IntelCrawler, Forms Enterprise Threat Intelligence Unit

By Allstate Identity Protection

New venture to help companies, governments identify and mitigate cyber-attacks

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 28, 2015) – InfoArmor, which helps companies and their employees detect and manage emerging fraud, has acquired IntelCrawler, a cyber and threat intelligence firm, to form a new Enterprise Threat Intelligence business unit. The venture will help Fortune 500 companies uncover and mitigate global intellectual property attacks using human operatives and cutting-edge technologies.

IntelCrawler was formed in 2013 by Dan Clements and Andrew Komarov, two security veterans, and has grown into a leading provider of applied threat intelligence, data and security research services to large corporate and government clients. The company has uncovered a wide variety of threats, including the source of the cyber-heist of customer data from Target. Among its strengths is its deep reach in the dark web to help devise preemptive measures that minimize potential attacks.

The growing number and complexity of cyber-attacks has prompted corporate IT departments to establish cyber intelligence units. “But even the most sophisticated companies are finding it difficult to defend themselves from data breaches and other vulnerabilities,” said Komarov, chief intelligence officer of IntelCrawler.

“InfoArmor is thrilled about joining forces with Dan, Andrew and the IntelCrawler team.  We believe their bleeding-edge data, intelligence and research capabilities are a natural fit for our clients, who continue to push us toward threat identification, assessment, and attribution,” said John Schreiber, InfoArmor’s president. “Using IntelCrawler’s context-aware intelligence and operative human intelligence, we will now be able to connect even more dots between cyber intelligence and emerging enterprise threats,” said Drew Smith, InfoArmor’s CEO.

The cash and stock transaction was finalized on January 23, 2015, and will be accretive to InfoArmor’s 2016 earnings per share.
